The fourth Once Upon a Time episode “Crocodile” is going to explore the backstory of an already very popular new character. But how is Belle involved?

ABC has released a set of promotional images, that show Belle exploring Storybrooke only to get kidnapped by a character (played by Christopher Gautier) we’re willing to eat our fuzzy red caps on is Smee, Captain Hook’s trusty sidekick:

The stills also show Mr. Gold, who is probably going to seek the assistance of Prince Charming and Red to find Belle.

The episode description for “Crocodile,” as released by TV Line, reads:

[A] reunion with an old acquaintance could prove to be Belle’s undoing. Meanwhile, in the fairytale land that was, Rumpelstiltskin attempts to save his wife, Milah, from being kidnapped by a band of cutthroat pirates.

It looks like history is about to repeat itself for Mr. Gold! But we do have to wonder what Smee is doing in Storybrooke, because previous spoilers have hinted that Captain Hook is still in fairytale land.

Also in the episode, Belle is going to find herself struggling to accept Rumpelstiltskin’s way of doing things, and the dwarves are going to explore the mines looking for fairy dust.

Captain Hook will make his first appearance in next week’s episode, which is entitled “Lady of the Lake.” In fairytale land, Emma and Snow will set out on a quest to return to Storybrooke with the help of Mulan and Aurora, as well as Snow’s old acquaintance Lancelot.

In flashbacks, Prince Charming has to seek the help of the Lady of the Lake when Snow is poisoned by King Charles.
