We had the chance to catch up with Once Upon a Time creators Adam Horowitz and Ed Kitsis who had several interesting things to say about the upcoming season of Once Upon a Time.

When discussing the focus of this season, the two were rather tight lipped except to state the obvious, we are visiting Neverland.  Horowitz stated,”You can expect that all these characters have been thrown into this intense situation, and they will have a laser like focus on getting Henry back. There will be new characters, probably Tinkerbell, and we can’t wait for you meet Peter Pan.”

The mystery of this twisted version of Peter Pan has been foreshadowed since last year, and it is safe to say this will be a Peter Pan like we have never seen before.

Ed Kitsis gave us a little insight into the various flashback episodes and whose back story we can plan to see for the beginning of this season. Episode two will be a Snow/Charming flashbck, episode three will be a Regina flashback, and episode four will be a Rumple flashback. Kitsis was quick to say that even though there will be flashback episodes, the goal of the season is to rescue Henry.

When talking about the various characters on the show Horowitz said,”We like to tell a story in a way that when if it is focusing on one particular character it bounces off the others in a way so that when we shift focus we feel like we have been with them all along.”

Kitsis added, “Structurally we want it to be a surprise. We haven’t forgotten about the people back in Storybrooke and how that story ties into Neverland.”

From everything discussed on the Comic-Con panel to this interview, the show seems to be streamlining into a singular focus: save Henry. The other stories being told will connect to this primary goal. Also the season won’t be as broken up a last season. There will be a set of eleven episodes in the fall and then another set of eleven in the spring. This should do the show more justice than the broken up season before.

We will be bringing you more roundtable interviews including ones from Colin O’Donoghue and Michael Raymond James.
