Once Upon a Time adds another tale from the from the Land of Untold Stories with Craig Horner taking the role of the Count of Monte Cristo.

Mr. Hyde left the door wide open for any and all lost stories to make their way into Storybrooke at the close of season 5. EW announced that one of the tales Once Upon a Time will explore in season 6 is that of Edmond Dantés, more famously known as the Count of Monte Cristo from Alexandre Dumas’ novel by the same name. A former sailor who was wrongfully imprisoned, seeks revenge after escaping the prison and coming into a vast fortune. Craig Horner (Legend of the Seeker) will take on the roll.

We know quite a few people preoccupied with revenge in the Storybrooke realm and it remains to be seen if the Count will find himself poised against the heroes or working against Hyde. Or perhaps he will find his place with someone who tends to feed on the vulnerability of those who walk around with a chip on their shoulder mad at the world. Sound familiar? We expect to see the Count and Mr. Gold getting well acquainted with one another when Horner makes his debut.

There are not many allies left for Mr. Gold to turn to in the Once Upon a Time universe. If Dantés has something against Hyde, perhaps Gold can persuade him to assist the mission to get the town back from Hyde’s grasp. After all, it was Gold’s latest deal that landed the town in the custody of a madman.

Dantés joins the already announced Morpheus and the hinted inclusion of A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur’s Court with Violet’s reveal that her father is not a native of Camelot.

Once Upon a Time season 6 premieres Sunday, September 25 at 8:00 p.m. ET on ABC.
