Following Once Upon a Time‘s intense winter finale, we’re left with a lot of questions! See what the cast can tease about the show’s return in January.

TV Line has spoken to a number of the actors about what’s ahead for the Storybrooke crew.

Jennifer Morrison, whose character Emma discovered in “Queen of Hearts” that she had magic of her own, says that when the show returns, “It’s a game of chess for her, because if she has the power to not have her heart ripped out by Cora, that makes her pretty powerful.” But Emma doesn’t understand her power yet, and needs Mr Gold’s assistance. “But she doesn’t want to ask him for help,” Morrison says, “so she is in a delicate way trying to figure out how powerful she is in relation to him.”

Josh Dallas (David) teases Captain Hook’s arrival in Storybrooke, saying, “It’s shocking and it’s exciting, and it’s not what you would expect. He gets thrust into the group, as it were, quite violently!”

As for the Charming family, which was happily reunited in last week’s episode, don’t expect their joy to last for very long. “There are some things happening that the Charming family has to deal with,” Dallas warns. “Cora and Hook are showing up, and we have something else happening in Storybrooke that needs our attention.”

Enjoy your month of speculating about what that “something else” could be, Oncers! Once Upon a Time returns January 6 with 2×10 “The Cricket Game.”
