Once Upon a Time‘s Lana Parrilla talks in a new interview about how she approaches Regina and the Evil Queen, what she hopes to see in season 2 and where she sees Regina ending up.

Speaking to Once Upon a Time Fans UK, Parrilla describes the Evil Queen as, “A very complex, emotional, quick-tempered trickster.” She contrasts that by painting Regina as, “a lonely, sad, convoluted woman with corruptive tendencies.”

As for what she hopes to see for Regina, Parrilla shares her hope that the character can be redeemed, saying:

I believe Regina is an unlucky soul with a good heart at her core and I would love to see her redeemed at some point – but not too quickly. I’m interested to see how she saves her relationship with Henry, whom she truly loves.

Further, she also says that she’s “sure” Regina will get Henry back using magic, and that she’ll also, “probably destroy Mr. Gold.” Seeing as Emma and Regina ended season 1 on the same side, she also hints that this alliance could continue in the second season.

What do you think is next for Regina, now that magic is back in the land?
