There’s a new Dark One in town on this week’s Once Upon a Time season 5, episode 10, “Broken Heart.” Get ready to meet Dark Hook!

What will Hook do with all that dark magic coursing through his veins? Perhaps it is time to finally get that revenge he has been seeking for centuries! On this week’s Once Upon a Time, the pirate leans heavily on his darker urges, and eyeliner, to finally achieve his lifelong goal of mounting a crocodile to the bow of the Jolly Roger.

What is it that he wants from Storybrooke’s original Dark One? Just a hand for a hand, a heart for a heart, and his head for messing with everyone’s minds.

Where has this guy been hiding? Hook’s character arc over the course of Once Upon a Time is one of the more rewarding developments in the series. As Killian Jones’ backstory is slowly filled in, Hook’s story slowly builds to rival Regina’s as the best tale of a character changing from villain to hero. Most of this has to do with accepting love and truly feeling that he deserves it in spite of his twisted past.

Will that all change after this week’s Once Upon a Time? In “Broken Heart” we will not only see Rumpel and Hook face off aboard the Jolly Roger, but another evil force is about to enter the scene and force Emma and Hook to act quickly against their own Darkness. You will also have all the pieces of the timeline puzzle after this week’s Once Upon a Time, as the Camelot and Storybrooke stories will finally unite.

Whatever this new threat is, let’s hope it does not show up in a cloud of smoke!
