The Netflix Original Series Fuller House just started filming over the weekend, but two Full House stars are still considering a role on the show: Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen.

Wait, what? In May Fuller House executive producer Robert L. Boyett said that the Olsen twins were definitely not appearing in the new series, but there seems to have been a change of heart from the actresses.

Speaking today at Netflix’s Television Critics Association panel, Netflix head Ted Sarandos said that the ladies are “teetering [on] whether or not they’ll be around” for Fuller House.

Perhaps Netflix didn’t want to give up on Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen after they turned the show down in May — or did the girls simply have a change of heart?

Fuller House will do just fine whether or not the Olsen twins are on the show, but their absence will be noticeable since we grew up with them on ABC’s Full House.

How can the new show get away with not involving the Olsen twins? The show isn’t about them. “In Fuller House, the adventures that began in 1987 on Full House continue, with veterinarian D.J. Tanner-Fuller (Cameron-Bure) pregnant and recently widowed, living in San Francisco,” reads a synopsis from Netflix. “D.J.’s younger sister/aspiring musician Stephanie Tanner (Sweetin) and D.J.’s lifelong best friend/fellow single mother Kimmy Gibbler (Barber), along with Kimmy’s feisty teenage daughter Ramona, all move in to help take care of D.J.’s two boys — the rebellious 12-year-old J.D. and neurotic 7-year-old Max — and her soon-to-arrive baby.”

Since the show is already filming, and an Olsen return is still up in the air, it’s likely that if the girls appear, it’ll only be for a quick cameo. It may be too late to write a larger role in for Michelle Tanner.

Do you think the Olsen twins should join ‘Fuller House’?

Though Mary-Kate and Ashley may not show up, other beloved alums including Bob Saget and John Stamos are officially booked for the show.

Fuller House premieres in 2016.
