The first trailer for the Olivia Wilde and Sam Rockwell comedy Better Living through Chemistry has been released, and it proves the film will be a talent display from both actors.

The plot of Better Living Through Chemistry doesn’t look too enticing. Rather, it looks fairly run-of-the-mill. Doug Varney is a small-town pharmacist who has a cure for everyone’s problems but his own (eye roll). But things change forever when he meets the seductive Elizabeth Roberts and enters into an affair (double eye roll).

Luckily, the cast promises to push this standard plot into being something much greater. As the trailer shows, this film looks like it’ll feature some really great acting.

Check it out:

As the actor playing the most dynamic character in the film, Rockwell in particular showed that his performance will be great, but that’s to be expected with him. The trailer shows that he plays the phases of being a sitcom-like bum, a manboy getting seduced, and a murderous, drugged out wreck equally well.

What will become of Better Living Through Chemistry? As it appears now, the answer to that question unfortunately appears to be not much. It seems like it’s the type of film that could play at a film festival, but it won’t be. Currently, it’s slated to be released on March 14 both in select theaters and on iTunes.

Here’s the official plot description:

A small town pharmacist’s uneventful life turns into a walk on the wild side when he embarks on a drug-and-alcohol fueled affair with a seductive customer in this murderously funny dark comedy starring Sam Rockwell and Olivia Wilde.
