Production on the highly anticipated Obi-Wan Kenobi series at Disney+ is gearing up to kick off production!

Disney and Lucasfilm might have hit the breaks for a minute on the long-gestating Obi-Wan series, but now it looks like production is heating up in a huge way.

On Monday, the studio announced that shooting on Obi-Wan Kenobi is officially set to kick off in April, meaning fans are one step closer to seeing the series debut via Disney+.

In addition to announcing the beginning of production, Disney+ also announced that actors Moses Ingram, Joel Edgerton, Bonnie Piesse, Kumail Nanjiani, Indira Varma, Rupert Friend, O’Shea Jackson Jr., Sung Kang, Simone Kessell and Benny Safdie have all officially joined the cast of the series.

They join actors Ewan McGregor and Hayden Christensen, both of whom will be returning to reprise their roles from the Star Wars prequels as Obi-Wan Kenobi and Darth Vader, respectively.

Still to come are more details with regards to who the rest of the cast will be playing, as well as how their characters will fit into the fold of things.

Similarly, plot details for the Obi-Wan Kenobi series are being kept tightly under wraps for now. One thing we do know is that when the series debuts, fans will catch up with the Jedi Master 10 years after the events of Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith.

Behind the camera, Deborah Chow will serve as director. Chow is no stranger to the world of Star Wars, having previously helmed two episodes of the first season of The Mandalorian

Executive producers on the project include Kathleen Kennedy, Michelle Rejwan, Deborah Chow, Ewan McGregor and writer Joby Harold.

Currently, there’s no word on when we can expect to see the Obi-Wan Kenobi series debut via Disney+.
