This week the lists see only a few changes. With the holiday shopping season in full effect some old favorites have re-emerged on the children’s series list while the adult list is topped by another favorite author.

COMBINED PRINT & E-BOOK FICTION

  1. THE DROP, by Michael Connelly
  2. 11/22/63, by Stephen King
  3. EXPLOSIVE EIGHTEEN, by Janet Evanovich
  4. THE LITIGATORS, by John Grisham
  5. KILL ALEX CROSS, by James Patterson
  6. Complete List »

The adult list has only shuffled a little in order to allow another beloved and well known author his turn at the top of the list. In fact the entire top ten is comprised of well known authors which begs the question, how does an unknown find their way onto a list with authors who turn out multiple books a year and have a devote following?

Children’s Chapter Books

  1. THE SON OF NEPTUNE, by Rick Riordan
  2. THE LEGO IDEAS BOOK, by Daniel Lipkowitz
  3. THE INVENTION OF HUGO CABRET, written and illustrated by Brian Selznick
  4. EVERY THING ON IT, by Shel Silverstein
  5. LEGO STAR WARS CHARACTER ENCYCLOPEDIA, by Hannah Dolan and others
Complete List »

Once again this list sees few changes. However, next week will be an interesting one. Cassie Clare’s Clockwork Prince will be eligible to make the list and as it is only the second book in the series will pose a true challenge to Rick Riordan’s current dominace.

Children’s Series

  1. DIARY OF A WIMPY KID, written and illustrated by Jeff Kinney
  2. THE HUNGER GAMES, by Suzanne Collins
  3. INHERITANCE, by Christopher Paolini
  4. THE TWILIGHT SAGA, by Stephenie Meyer
  5. HARRY POTTER, by J. K. Rowling
  6. Complete List »

In the series category the Wimpy Kid hangs on to the top spot despite having four of the best known and most loved series moving back into the top five. For various reasons I don’t see this part of the list changing too much until the new, and even then what series will be able to challenge these already established ones? Tell us what you think in the comments.
