Following rumors, anticipation, and denials from the boys themselves, the ‘N Sync reunion indeed occurred at the MTV VMAs.

You can watch the highly-anticipated ‘N Sync reunion below:

All five band members – Justin Timberlake, Lance Bass, Joey Fatone, JC Chasez, and Chris Kirkpatrick – were present and performed shortened versions of “Bye Bye Bye” and “Girlfriend.”

The problem? Timberlake’s overall performance was flooded with his solo songs, and the singer only brought ‘N Sync on for two to three minutes. They came up, danced for a few moments, and then went back below stage.

To his credit, Timberlake thanked the ‘N Sync boys at the end of the performance

The chance of ‘N Sync reunion occurring increased as the week went by. The band joined Twitter yesterday with a tweet that read “Mic check, mic check one.. two… is this thing on?!” and they amassed over 100,000 followers in less than 24 hours. We’re sure that number will only grow over the next couple of days.

One big question that still lingers is: Why open up an official Twitter account if all they were doing was reuniting for one time at the VMAs? Is a ‘N Sync reunion tour in the works? Are they planning on debuting a new greatest hits album? We hope something is in the pipeline because the boys are greatly missed. Unfortunately, there’s no concrete evidence suggesting such a thing is happening.

In addition to the reunion, Justin Timberlake received the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard award which is what prompted the boys to get back together. It was presented to him by NBC late night talk show host Jimmy Fallon, who Timberlake is good friends with.
