The Academy has announced that Grammy-winner Norah Jones will perform the Best Original Song nominee from Ted, “Everybody Needs a Friend,” live at the 2013 Academy Awards.

Jones will perform live on the Oscars telecast alongside the previously announced Adele, who will perform her nominated song from Skyfall.

Said Norah Jones in the official press release: “I had such a great time recording this song with Seth, and was thrilled to find out that it was nominated for an Oscar. Getting to perform it at such a prestigious event, which my friend is hosting, is a once in a lifetime opportunity.”

Producers Craig Zadan and Neil Meron added: “We are happy to have Norah Jones perform Seth’s and Walter Murphy’s nominated song on our Oscar telecast. We are big admirers of Norah’s singing and she will help celebrate the unique circumstance of having an Oscar host who is also nominated for Best Original Song.”

With music by Walter Murphy and lyrics by Seth MacFarlane, “Everybody Needs a Friend” is nominated for Best Original Song alongside “Skyfall” from Skyfall, “Before My Time” from Chasing Ice, “Pi’s Lullaby” from Life of Pi and “Suddenly” from Les Miserables.

Seth MacFarlane will host the 85th Oscars telecast at 8 p.m EST/5 p.m. PST on Sunday, February 24, 2013 on ABC.
