With the Doctor Who production offices opening this month, it’s hardly surprising that various entertainers will be making their pitch. Stand-up comedian and comedy TV presenter, Noel Fielding, is apparently quite the fan.

Digital Spy references Fielding’s comments to The Radio Times.

I wouldn’t mind being on Doctor Who,” he revealed. “I like the guy who does it at the moment [Matt Smith] and I thought David Tennant was amazing.”

He joked: “Next [time] I think we need an androgynous, slightly dippy Doctor who gets everything wrong.”

Just last week, showrunner Steven Moffat caused an Internet whirlwind by hinting that Sophia Myles might return to the show. Earlier today John Simm spoke up about his potential return to Doctor Who.

Clearly Doctor Who ranks among the BBC’s most popular productions. So many British entertainers are either fans from their childhood and/or current fans. Aside from wanting to be involved in a successful show, they want to be able to make their mark and be able to say that they were part of what amounts to a legendary institution. What performers would you like to see on the show this season? Do you think it works out well when comedians and singers rather than trained actors are cast?
