ER alumn Noah Wyle is teaming up with Ava DuVernay and Greg Berlanti for his next small screen role.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, actor Noah Wyle is set to star in a brand new CBS drama spearheaded by Ava DuVernay and Greg Berlanti.

The new series, called Red Line, will explore what happens after a white cop in Chicago mistakenly shoots and kills a black doctor.

After the tragic event occurs, the show will tell the story of three different families, all of whom have a connection to the case, and explore the event from each of their perspectives.

Wyle’s character, Daniel Calder, is set to be especially close to the slain doctor. Daniel is both a dedicated high school teacher and the husband of the recently deceased doctor. After his husband is killed, Daniel will be left to serve as a single parent to their adopted daughter Jira.

The series has yet to be officially picked up by CBS, but Red Line already has a pretty talented team working behind the scenes to get the project off the ground.

In addition to DuVernay and Berlanti, the series will also be exuectibe produced by Sarah Schechter. Meanwhile, Supergirl’s Caitlin Parrish will write the script, and the pilot will be directed by Victoria Mahoney.

We’ll be looking forward to seeing if CBS gives Red Line the green light!
