Noah and his ark are set to hit theaters next spring. A quick first look at the trailer for the biblical epic leaves us wanting more!

A precursor to the full trailer, a short preview of Darren Aronofsky’s forthcoming epic, Noah, was released online today.

Noah follows the biblical figure as he tries to save his family after having visions of a watery apocolypse.

The film stars Russell Crowe as the titular biblical figure alongside Jennifer Connelly, Emma Watson, Logan Lerman, Ray Winstone, and Anthony Hopkins.

We brought you a peek at some of the first images of the actors in character back in June. Now we get to see the stars in action, however briefly.

The 18-second clip ends before we get into the nitty-gritty of the story, but we get a look at some stunning visual effects, Crowe in character, and the beginnings of the ark.

The full trailer is expected to make its debut any day (or minute) now, but this clip already has us excited for what Aronofsky has done with one of the most well-known stories ever told. Emma Watson (Noah’s daughter) and Jennifer Connelly (Noah’s wife) are featured in this short six-second clip:

Paramount and Aronofsky have reportedly disagreed over the final cut of the film after early tests garnered unsatisfactory reviews from audiences, with many criticizing the liberties taken with the story. Anytime the Bible is source material, the whole book-to-film adaptation argument is understandably more amplified.

Crowe and Aronofsky have said in interviews that this will not be a typical re-telling of the Noah’s Ark story, with the title character being more edgy than benevolent.

We will bring you the full trailer for Noah as soon as it is released.

The film is scheduled to hit theaters on March 28, 2014.
