Lately, director Darren Aronofsky’s Noah retelling has been under some heat. The film’s even been banned in a few countries, but the director has said that “there is no controversy.” The film has some incredible actors involved and Aronofsky is a brilliant director, so we aren’t too concerned with the controversy over the film’s message.

The story centers around the title character’s mission to save his family after seeing visions of an inevitable apocalypse. Director Darren Aronofsky and Russell Crowe have promised an edgier take on the biblical tale.

Russell Crowe has said that Noah is more of an anti-hero than audiences might expect, and from what we’ve seen so far, the film looks more like an epic action film than we’d normally expect from the director.

We’re excited to see what this caliber of director is able to do with the tale of Noah. Aronofsky’s most recent film, Black Swan, went on to grab an Academy Award for Natalie Portman’s brilliant portrayal of a disturbed ballerina.

Noah is set to hit theaters March 28, 2014.
