Hey, listen: it’s bad news for Zelda fans. Nintendo’s highly anticipated open-world Wii U game has been delayed.

Nintendo has released a statement revealing their decision to delay their Wii U Zelda title, which means we can wave goodbye to that fall 2015 release date we were hoping for.

But it’s not all bad news. According to Zelda producer Eiji Aonuma, the decision has been made to give the team time to incorporate new gameplay elements.

“As the team has experienced firsthand the freedom of exploration that hasn’t existed in any Zelda game to date, we have discovered several new possibilities for the game,” Aonuma says in the video.

Unfortunately, this delay also means that no new footage will be shown at the E3 Expo in June.

Although we have to wait a bit longer for this game, we’re sure the open-world Zelda gameplay experience will be more than worth it.

The original teaser accompanying Nintendo’s original the Wii U Zelda announcement gives us a taste of just how vast the expanded Hyrule is going to be:

And Link is wearing blue! It truly is a whole new world.

Are you sad that we won’t be seeing the new Zelda game in 2015, or would you rather wait the extra months if it means Nintendo can provide an even better gaming experience?
