Nikita star Maggie Q hints at what fans can expect between the titular heroine and Michael in the fourth and final season.

With three months passing between the end of season 3 and the start of season 4, the promo for Nikita‘s fourth and final season hinted at a chilly reunion between Michael and Nikita.

This isn’t surprising considering that Nikita went on the run after being framed for the assassination of the President of the United States. In the process, she left behind her engagement ring for Michael to find. So, with that kind of hurt between our two heroes, is there any hope for reconciliation?

According to E! Online, who recently spoke with Maggie Q, yes!

“When people love each other the way that they do, it’s hard to think that there isn’t [hope for the two characters],” Q says of the fan favorite couple. “I think people would be really upset if, in the end, nothing happened for them. They’ve been fighting for them all these years.”

Shane West previewed that “Michael may have gotten dark again, especially after the end of season 3,” adding that Michael is “always gonna worry, and he’s always gonna love Nikita, but I think this is really gonna put their relationship to the test.”

Because Michael is so angry and hurt, Q teased that it will take a third party to act as “the catalyst for the understanding of how big it all is and what [Nikita] really sacrificed.” This moment of understanding, which Q calls “really important,” is set to occur in the fourth or fifth episode of the shortened season.

Without this catalyst, “it’s hard for him to step back from all the emotion, all the pain and hurt of it to go, ‘Well I get why she did this,’ because he’s too in it,” Q explains. The third party “is the person who sort of looks at Michael and says, ‘I get [that] you’re mad, but do you even understand what’s happening here?’ And I think that really, really changes Michael’s perspective of everything.”

Q was coy abut the identity of this third party, though, only saying that she has wanted to bring the character back since season 2. Consider our interest piqued!

Nikita season 4 premieres Friday, November 22 at 9:00 p.m. ET on The CW.
