Nicole Arbour, the YouTube vlogger whose “Dear Fat People” sparked outrage, was fired from a movie after the director discovered her video.

Take note: publicly shaming others never pays off, not even on the Internet.

Successful YouTuber Nicole Arbour made headlines for the worst reason earlier this month, when her video “Dear Fat People” went viral, and was subsequently removed by YouTube.

In the video, Arbour basically tells “fat people” to get over themselves, claiming that fat shaming is something “fat people made up” to garner sympathy, and to avoid having to actually lose weight.

When director Pat Mills, who is working on a dance movie titled Don’t Talk to Irene and had employed Arbour as a choreographer, saw the video, he decided to sever ties with the vlogger.

Mills tells Zap2It, “I’m gay. I was bullied a lot as a kid. I am no stranger to ridicule and loneliness.”

And Arbour’s video, “is an unfunny and cruel fat-shaming video that guises itself about being about ‘health’,” Mills says. “It’s fat phobic and awful. It went on for over for six minutes. I felt like I had been punched in the gut. I was so upset I was shaking like Shelley DuVall in the The Shining.”

Ironically, Mills had hired Arbour to work on what he calls a “body-positive” movie.

“It’s about a 16-year-old girl who dreams of being a cheerleader, but she is constantly bullied for being fat. She learns that she doesn’t have to change anything about herself to be awesome because she already is,” Mills explains.

Responding to the story on Twitter, Arbour seems to dismiss her involvement with Mills altogether:

“If we offend you so much that you lose weight, I’m okay with that,” Arbour said in the original video. “You are killing yourself. I’ll sleep at night. Maybe I am jealous that you get to eat whatever you want.”
