US Weekly is reporting this morning that American Idol is looking to singer Nick Jonas and rapper Pharrell Williams to become judges, replacing Randy Jackson and Steven Tyler.
Though Tyler announced his departure a couple weeks ago, Jackson’s status with the show has been up in the air. He reportedly will take on a mentoring position in season 12.
US Weekly says that Jonas recently met with producers and may be the first one to sign a deal.
Mariah Carey is the only confirmed judge for season 12 so far. Idol‘s executive producer Nigel Lythgoe recently said he hoped to have new judges every year going forward.
