Hypable got the chance to speak with Nicholas D’Agosto about his role as Harvey Dent on Gotham, see what he had to say!

Harvey Dent will make his first appearance on Gotham on November 17, and it’s something that fans have been looking forward too since before Nicholas D’Agosto was even cast in the role!

In fact, Gotham stars Ben McKenzie and Donald Logue were quoted talking about their hopes that the character would appear on the show. When we asked D’Agosto if he felt any pressure portraying the role he laughed a bit.

“I think that—you know, you can’t get too wrapped into it. Thankfully I’ve had enough experience with bad reviews in the past that I feel like that I can place that kind of stuff in the right compartment,” he said laughing. “But I think, yes, I’m a fan of Batman, and I’m a fan of these franchises, and I read comics, and so I definitely am sympathetic to people that want this show to live up to their expectations.”

But D’Agosto definitely doesn’t expect to be able to please all the fans of Gotham who are eagerly awaiting Dent’s arrival. “Obviously the difficult thing about expectations is that everybody has different ones, and it’s difficult to assuage everyone,” he explained.

There was one thing that D’Agosto wanted to get correctly about playing Harvey Dent. D’Agosto explained to us that in his research he found that in every picture of Two-Face he was holding a gun in his right hand and flipping his coin with his left hand, “But I’m right handed,” D’Agosto told us.

“I was a little bit intimidated by the idea of using my less dominant hand because if I ever dropped the coin the take is ruined,” He says. “I wanted to make sure that if every picture was Two-Face, with the coin in his left hand, well darn it, I was going to put that coin in my left hand. So, I practiced all weekend, talking and flipping the coin, and I did all right, thankfully. So, I feel pretty good about it.”

It sounds like D’Agosto really cares about getting the role of Harvey Dent down, even the little details! In Gotham season 1, episode 9, “Harvey Dent,” his character will be working to close the Wayne murder case. When Dent meets with Gordon he encourages him to work with Mayor James to solve the case.

We’re looking forward to seeing Nicholas D’Agosto on Gotham, what about you?
