Tony award-winning actress Marcia Gay Harden is reported to be replacing Rosemarie DeWitt in season 2 of Aaron Sorkin’s The Newsroom.

Last week we reported that Rosemarie DeWitt was leaving The Newsroom in the middle of season 2 filming due to scheduling conflicts. Now according to TVLine we already have a replacement – the wonderful Marcia Gay Harden.

Harden will be taking over DeWitt’s role of Rebecca Halliday, a litigator hired by the fictional cable network Atlantis Cable Network to defend them in a multimillion-dollar wrongful termination lawsuit. DeWitt told Hypable that her character was “crushing” Jeff Daniels’ grouchy news anchor Will McAvoy. We can’t wait to see how Harden will handle these scenes, which will now be refilmed.

Just like the rest of the talented Newsroom cast, Harden has made a name for herself on the stage. In 2009 she won the Tony Award as Best Actress in a Play for her performance in God of Carnage. Maybe she can swap stories with fellow Tony winner John Gallagher, Jr.
