Season 2 of Aaron Sorkin’s The Newsroom will see a new lady in town, Entourage‘s Constance Zimmer, who will be appearing in a recurring role. Plus, what will Maggie be up to in 2×04?

Deadline reports that Constance Zimmer has been added to the cast of The Newsroom season 2. Zimmer became well known for her role of Dana Gordon in Entourage, and can be seen currently in Grey’s Anatomy as Dr. Alana Cahill.

It looks like Zimmer will be filling out more of the election 2012 storyline that we expect to see in season 2. She will be playing a press spokesperson for the Mitt Romney campaign.

If that sounds familiar, it is because Joel Johnstone has already been cast as a staffer on the Mitt Romney election campaign – and Grace Gummer, daughter of Meryl Streep, will be appearing as a reporter embedded with the Romney campaign. So that’s the Romney campaign taken care of – there’s still no word on how the Obama reelection campaign will be treated by the fearless News Night team.

In spoiler news, episode four of season 2 will see Maggie and Gary heading to Uganda to visit an orphanage there. Talk about random – at least it won’t be all 2012 election, all the time.

Earlier this week, The Newsroom 1×01 “We Just Decided To” picked up the award for Best Edited One-Hour Series For Non-Commercial Television at the 63rd Annual Ace Eddie awards. Congratulations to Anne McCabe, who did the hard work.

And finally, in case you were worried – here are Jeff Daniels’ latest tweets from the set of The Newsroom, with co-stars Emily Mortimer and Sam Waterston. It looks like they are all hard at work, except for when they are eating cake.

The Newsroom season 2 will return to HBO in June 2013.
