Get a behind-the-scenes analysis of The Governor from the upcoming season of The Walking Dead in this video from Entertainment Weekly. David Morrissey, who plays the new character, gives us the breakdown.

The Governor comes into the picture when he picks up Michonne and Andrea, taking them to his “oasis” of a town, called Woodbury. We learn from Morrissey in this exclusive video from Entertainment Weekly that he has created this town as a peaceful place for people to forget about the constant threat of walkers.

He doesn’t seem like such a bad guy, but Rick’s company has to be careful, especially since The Governor seems to be posing a threat to our gang’s new sanctuary of its own in the prison.

While Michonne is quite wary of Morrissey’s character because he takes away their weapons, Andrea seems to be warming up to him. Just look at our previously posted sneak peek photos of season 3.

In an ideal world, Rick, Lori, Carl, and crew would be able to set up shop and find a nice place to relax in The Governor’s little town. But we know that this world is far from ideal. There is going to be a fight, and the walkers are most likely not going to be the only foes.

Check out the entire transcript of Morrissey’s interview:

“Woodbury is an oasis in this madness [that] he’s created He’s worked very hard to create a society and a town which has security, which has a sense of normalcy. Which also is, you know, kids go to school, and people go to work; he’s really working hard to protect people. Protect his people. Although it looks like a fortress, there’s aspects of it that look very idyllic, which are idyllic in this world. It comes at a cost, I think. But I think for the viewer and for the people who arrive in Woodbury, it’s a wonderful oasis; it’s a great place to be. It’s secure and it works. That’s what he’s brought to the world.”
