Several new feauturettes take fans behind the scenes of the climactic events of Game of Thrones season 4, episode 2.

After giving fans a few days to digest the game-changing events of Game of Thrones season 4, episode 2 (spoiler alert: Joffrey dies!) HBO has released several featurettes delving into “The Lion and the Rose.”

The first video presents to “Inside the Episode” segments, looking deeper into the various plotlines developed in the episode.

The video features show runners David Benioff and Dan Weiss, as well as director Alex Graves, discussing Stannis Baratheon, Bran Stark, and the Royal Wedding. While the show runners say that Stannis is in full-on “Lord of Light” mode, the messages that Bran receives are less clear.

“Every image in [his vision] is there for a reason,” says Weiss, while Benioff teases fans with the especially tantalizing imagery. “The most crucial shot to us was the shadow of a dragon over King’s Landing,” he says. “We don’t know yet, is it from the past, is it from the future? We’ll find out.”

Joffrey and Margaery’s wedding is also given significant attention, both in the “Inside the Episode” video and the “Anatomy of a Scene” featurette below.

Peter Dinklage weighed in on Joffrey’s re-enactment of the War of the Five Kings with dwarf jesters, admitting that the scene “made me uncomfortable, in a really good way. I loved that they took that leap.”

George RR Martin, who penned Game of Thrones season 4, episode 2 (as well as the novels on which the series is based) weighed in on the ongoing war between Tyrion and Cersei, which will now have a devastating fallout.

Peter Dinklage, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, and Jerome Flynn also discuss Tyrion’s arranging for Bronn to give Jaime lessons in fighting left-handed.
