It seems as if Hollywood is in a rut of creating remakes, and this time it’s the 1883 book Treasure Island, by Robert Louis Stevenson.

Warner Bros. announced today that Guy Ritchie, who most recently directed Sherlock Holmes and the sequel, is attached to helm a new adaptation of Treasure Island.  Ritchie will produce with Lionel Wigram and Kevin McCormick.

Deadline states:

It was Wigram who originally set up a stylized version of the classic novel, much the way he did Sherlock Holmes, which Ritchie directed. He set it up before he and Ritchie became partners.

Are you excited for a new adaptation of Treasure Island? Or do you wish Hollywood would stop creating reboots?
