Well, fellow The Newsroom fans, we officially have a trailer for season 2, and it sets the tone for what is looking to be an impressive second season.

Our patience is finally paying off, as Aaron Sorkin and company have seen fit to bless us with our first real trailer for The Newsroom season 2, and it gives us a small dose of exactly what to expect when the show returns on July 14.

First of all, the song you are hearing behind the amazing visuals is “Can’t Pretend” by Thomas Odell, and it is the perfect companion for this trailer full of stunningly bleak visuals.

This trailer for The Newsroom season 2 begins with Will McAvoy sitting behind the ACN news desk in the middle of a desert, and while at first it seems a little alarming (what is the news desk doing in the desert?), soon we see that Will is seeing visions of his staff as he walks through the bleak landscape.

As he moves on, each vision starts happy, and soon changes dramatically to see the subject angry, sad, bitter, or scared. We see all our favorite characters: Jim, Maggie, Neil, Don, Sloane, Mac, Charlie, and even a very intimidating billboard of Leona Lansing, and they all seem to be getting both exactly what they want, followed quickly by the exact opposite.

We can’t wait to see what else Sorkin has in store for us for The Newsroom season 2, and after this trailer, we are certainly buzzing with anticipation.

The Newsroom season 2 starts July 14, 2013.
