There’s a new trailer out for Pride and Prejudice and Zombies, the Jane Austen-style zombie apocalypse movie we still can’t believe is really happening!
Pride and Prejudice and Zombies, based on the novel of the same name, re-tells the classic Jane Austen story Pride and Prejudice… with zombies. That’s literally the premise. And we love it.
Until we saw the first trailer we had no idea to expect, but the tongue-in-cheek tone mixed with the legitimately gory, badass action sequences actually seem to work! It’s like Warm Bodies, but during the British Regency. What’s not to like?
Here’s the second trailer for Pride and Prejudice and Zombies, which stars Lily James, Lena Headey, Matt Smith, Suki Waterhouse, Charles Dance, Sam Riley, Douglas Booth, and Hermione Corfield:
The trailer opens with the first zombie outbreak, which makes a poor young lady scream bloody murder.
But this isn’t a story about damsels in distress.
In this version of history, the scores who died in the Black Plague rose as zombies, and wiped out most of humanity. “Now, the few of us who are left must bring the fight to them,” declares Lily James’ Elizabeth Bennet.

Lizzie has been training for this her whole life, Buffy-style, and she and her sisters emerge as first-class zombie hunters. “My daughters are trained for battle, not the kitchen,” Mister Bennet (Charles Dance) tells Mr Collins (Matt Smith)… poor Cersei, er, we mean Lady Catherine de Bourgh (Lena Headey).
Elizabeth declares that “I shall never relinquish my sword for a ring… and the right man wouldn’t ask me to.” Enter Mr Darcy, played by the charming Sam Riley!
(Is it blasphemy if we say we kind-of-maybe like this version of Pride and Prejudice at least as much as Jane Austen’s?)
