It’s the beginning of July, and you know what that means. More movies and TV show are new on Netflix for you to consume!

At the beginning of every month, the large Netflix catalog gets an influx of new content. July is no different, and some of the titles that are available this month are some of our favorite movies ever. Our queues are currently too full, but it looks like they’re about to get even fuller.

Some of the titles are available instantly today like Mean Girls and The Karate Kid, but some of them will be coming later in the month like The Master and Hitch.

We’ve sorted this gallery by when the new on Netflix titles will be appearing.

Which titles that are new on Netflix should you watch? Here are some thoughts on some of the better movies hitting Netflix this month.

Two Lindsay Lohan movies will be streaming on Netflix this month. One of course is the ever popular Mean Girls, one of the funniest and most quotable comedies of the 2000s. Another is the The Parent Trap remake, one of Lohan’s earlier and more notable roles.

Honey I Shrunk the Kids is another classic comedy. This was Captain America: The First Avenger and October Sky director Joe Johnston’s very first movie, and it pushed him into a very strong career.

The Karate Kid is one of the most beloved popular movies ever, held in similar regard to Star Wars, Indiana Jones, Back to the Future and other popular series of the time. Featuring the great Mr. Miyagi character played by the equally great Pat Morita, we can only hope a new generation will find and fall in love with these movies.

There will be some good classics available this month too, perhaps none more notable than 12 Angry Men, the jury drama starring Henry Fonda. This well acted, well written, well shot, suspenseful movie is one of the greatest movies of all time, and it’s great to have it so readily available. If you haven’t seen it, we fully recommend it.

The Jack Ryan franchise got a reboot this year with the Chris Pine starrer Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit, but one of the best movies in the franchise is The Hunt for Red October that stars Alec Baldwin and the always amazing Sean Connery.

Tom Hanks is one of the most famous actors today, and the movie which won him his first Oscar is finally available on Netflix. The movie is Philadelphia, and Hanks plays an attorney who loses his job after it’s revealed that he has AIDS. This is one of the first movies to discuss AIDS, and it’s an absolute must see.

Patton is one of the most critically acclaimed movies of all time. Winning seven Oscars including Best Picture, this is an important film.

Paul Thomas Anderson is a master, and his movie The Master is now new on Netflix. Featuring Oscar nominated performances from Philip Seymour Hoffman, Joaquin Phoenix, and Amy Adams, this is a spectacularly well made movie.

Another film to do very well at the Academy Awards, Gandhi won eight Oscars including Best Picture. At 191 minutes this is a very lengthy film, but it’s an important one to see with a landmark, transformative performance by Ben Kingsley.

Out of the Furnace and Homefront hit theaters close to the same time last year, and they’re both going to be new on Netflix at about the same time. The former stars Christian Bale in a role that was arguably better than his Oscar nominated American Hustle role. As we noted in our review of the Blu-ray, Homefront is a movie that’s unintentionally a comedy, and is quite hilarious.

There are a couple baseball movies that will be new on Netflix this month. One of them is Eight Men Out, a great movie that looks at the Chicago White Sox’s “Black Sox” scandal in the 1919 World Series when they were bribed to intentionally lose. The other is The Battered Bastards of Baseball, a documentary that after premiering at the Sundance Film Festival is now making it’s big debut on Netflix.

As the new on Netflix additions are evidence of, there are many, many great movies streaming on Netflix in virtually every genre. From big blockbusters to small, heartfelt indies, Netflix has something for everyone.
