CBS has reportedly found its new host for The Late Late Show.

James Corden will replace Craig Ferguson as host of the 12:35 a.m. talk show, according to The Wrap.

The 35-year-old British actor is best known right now for his upcoming role in Disney’s Into The Woods. The teaser trailer for the musical was released last week.

Ferguson announced he would be stepping down as host of The Late Late Show weeks after David Letterman announced his own departure from The Late Show.

Part of Ferguon’s decision may have come from the fact that CBS decided to not place him in the 11:35 p.m. slot. Instead, the network selected The Colbert Report creator and host Stephen Colbert.

Said Ferguson in April, “CBS and I are not getting divorced, we are ‘consciously uncoupling,’ but we will still spend holidays together and share custody of the fake horse and robot skeleton, both of whom we love very much.” He added that he’ll be leaving the show at the end of this year.

Corden will play The Baker in Into the Woods. You may also know him from the Hulu series The Wrong Mans and the feature film Begin Again.

Do you think Corden will be a good replacement?

It’s interesting that CBS has opted to pick a foreigner to take on the reigns. Perhaps they’re feeling that the transition will be smoother if the new host at 12:35 a.m. is someone like Ferguson who grew up outside of America. Certainly, Corden will continue to be the only late night host on network television in the Untied States with a fancy accent.
