Joss Whedon revealed a few new details concerning Marvel’s latest films at the Saturn Awards last night. He also talked about being Marvel’s film consultant and what it means for his TV show, S.H.I.E.L.D., to start out popular instead of becoming popular after it’s been canceled.

While looking a bit tired during the Saturn Awards red carpet, The Avengers 2 director spoke with the guys over at Collider about all things Marvel. He also discusses what it takes to write a strong female character and if it’s more difficult to do so as a man.

We already knew Whedon was a consulting on nearly all of Marvel’s latest films, but it seems like he has quite the pull when it comes to films that are directly linked to Avengers 2. He may be the most powerful director in Hollywood right now with two Avengers sequels in his future.

Check out the full interview below thanks to Collider:

Whedon is very busy working on The Avengers sequel, and while we’re sure he’s hovering over many of Marvel’s current film shoots, he most likely catches the scripts before they’re sent out to set. It’s certainly the first time we’ve seen one director have so much control.

While Marvel’s Kevin Feige is still the president, it appears as though Joss definitely has say in nearly every film they’re filming. The most interesting part of the interview came when he spoke about Guardians, and the fact that he didn’t think Rocket Raccoon could work, but was willing to trust director James Gunn.
