Ashton Kutcher’s highly anticipated and even more scrutinized turn as Apple Inc. creator Steve Jobs is scheduled to hit the big screen later this summer. The new full length trailer for Jobs was released today.

The trailer gives us our most detailed look, to date, at the biopic directed by Joshua Michael Stern that stars Ashton Kutcher, Josh Gad as Steve Wozniak, Dermot Mulroney, and J.K. Simmons.

The film takes us through Jobs and Wozniak’s college years as they founded the Apple Inc. concept and started down the groundbreaking path of home computer development, all the way to Jobs’ resignation and subsequent return to the company.

Jobs infamously dropped out of college after only six months and managed to become one of the most well-known and successful innovators of his generation.

Open Road produced and is handling the U.S. distribution of the movie which was written by first time feature writer Matt Whiteley.

Apple Inc. has had no involvement in the development of the film. After Jobs’ death, it was announced that Sony would produce a movie based on Jobs’ official autobiography, written and directed by Social Network and Newsroom scribe Aaron Sorkin. There have not been any significant developments on that film since the announcement.

It has been nearly two years since Steve Jobs passed away and one year since production began on the film project. Photos, clips, and a teaser trailer have all made their way online and were met with some skepticism from critics.

Sundance provided the stage for the premiere of the movie where it met mixed reviews with some contending that while the story was good, Kutcher’s performance was lacking. Others called his performance a pleasant surprise.

Audiences will get to decide for themselves on August 16, when Jobs hits theaters.
