A new Harry Potter book looking at the wealth of creatures in J.K. Rowling’s wizarding series will hit store shelves this October.

Harry Potter: The Creature Vault will be published by Harper-Collins this holiday season and is the third book to offer behind-the-scenes looks at the Potter film series.

The synopsis hints at what you’ll find inside the 208-page encyclopedia: “Dementors and House-elves, merpeople and Chinese Fireball Dragons—these are just a few of the magical creatures and frightening monsters populating J. K. Rowling’s wizarding world. Harry Potter: The Creature Vault is a fascinating look at how this menagerie was brought to life for the blockbuster Harry Potter film series. Detailed profiles of each creature include rare concept illustrations, behind-the-scenes photography, and filmmaking secrets from the Warner Bros. archive. A removable poster picturing each of the creatures and an interactive Eeylops Owl Emporium catalog complete this must-have package.”

Harry Potter: The Creature Vault arrives roughly two years before the first spin-off film Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them opens in theaters (November 2016). We wouldn’t be surprised if some creatures in The Creature Vault appeared in Fantastic Beasts two years from now. In fact, this new book may come in handy for the production team. Perhaps it was assembled in conjunction with those who are planning Beasts?

We’re particularly excited about the “poster picturing each of the creatures” – it sounds like something that will most definitely be hung up on our wall. I’m hoping it’s going to look something like this:

I used to own this poster.

You can pre-order Harry Potter: The Creature Vault now through Amazon for $31.

In related news: While poking around Harper Collins’ website we found another upcoming book by the author who wrote Creature Vault. It’s titled Harry Potter: The Book of Magical Places and will be published in May 2015.
