Marvel is on the brink of going overboard on epic Guardians of the Galaxy footage, but we just can’t stop watching this film’s new footage.

The studio showed 17 minutes of new footage in a select group of theaters around the world today and the feedback has been incredibly positive.

Hypable was at the IMAX 3D viewing of Guardians of the Galaxy this evening in Hollywood and thoroughly enjoyed the footage presented. After a brief introduction by director James Gunn, viewers primarily watched Bradley Cooper’s Rocket Raccoon lead the guardians as they tried to break out of captivity.

The interactions between the five lead characters were mighty impressive. You can’t help but root for an underdog, so it was a thrill to watch this muddled together team try to work together to solve a problem. While the entire cast brought stellar performances, Cooper’s Rocket was definitely the standout if only for how unique of a character an animated raccoon is for a Marvel film.

At the end of the escape scene we were presented with today’s new extended trailer in which we see the intergalactic group of misfits as they work together to save the galaxy. Watch one of the most amazing casts we’ve seen put together as they portray Marvel’s latest group of comic book heroes:

Marvel is ramping up its promotion for Guardians of the Galaxy as it heads closer to its world premiere on August 1. We recently found out that fan-favorite Nathan Fillion will have a cameo in Guardians and you won’t believe who he’ll be playing.

Marvel recently released some new looks at Guardians of the Galaxy’s villains, which are Karen Gillan as Nebula and Lee Pace as Ronan The Accuser. The two new posters featured the villains on one and the heroes on the other and gave us our first great shot of Lee Pace as Ronan.

Guardians of the Galaxy’s previous trailer gave us some great looks at Chris Pratt and Zoe Saldana, and more importantly, showed us quite a bit more of Bradley Cooper voicing Rocket Raccoon. It looks as though he’ll be quite talkative in the film, especially after seeing this new trailer.

Guardians of the Galaxy’s release date is set for August 1, 2014. Featuring an intergalactic group of Guardians, led by Star-Lord, they make a desperate stand to save the galaxy.

Two-time Academy Award nominee Bradley Cooper voices the machine-gun-wielding Rocket Raccoon and is joined by Vin Diesel as the tree-like Groot, with Zoe Saldana, Chris Pratt, Karen Gillan and Dave Bautista filling out the leading roles.
