Rob Reiner will be returning to New Girl to play Jess’ Dad and will end up spending alone time with Nick which may not go as well as it did the last time they met!
Yesterday, the synopsis for New Girl episode 2×24 “Winston’s Birthday” was released revealing that Bob Day is coming back to the loft to visit his daughter Jess. However, his unexpected visit will mean that he’s left with only Nick to entertain him. But now that Jess and Nick’s relationship has changed, so will Nick’s relationship with her father!
TV Guide teases that the day won’t go as Nick would hope! This time around Nick will be trying to impress Bob instead of flirting with his ex-wife as he did in the Thanksgiving episode. New Girl executive producer Liz Meriwether explains, “Bob Day likes Nick a lot, until he realizes that Nick might be interested in his daughter, so he’s holding him up to a little bit of a higher standard.”

Jess’ dad (guest star Rob Reiner) chooses the worst day to pay the loft an unexpected visit, forcing a nervous Nick to spend time alone with him. Meanwhile, Jess gets a shot at a big new job on the day before Cece’s wedding. Then, Schmidt (Max Greenfield) struggles to publicity date a less-than-physically-ideal woman, and Winston (Lamorne Morris) continually psyches himself up for his huge surprise birthday celebration, which no one seems to remember to throw for him. Mary Lynn Rajskub (“24”) guest-stars.
