Nick and Schmidt are back in business together, but will it bring them together or tear them apart? Find out with our recap of New Girl season 4, episode 14, “Swuit.”
Schnick Industries 15 years ago: Nick came up with the idea for smart phones.
Schnick Industries present day: Nick and Schmidt have a meeting with Laurie from Shark Tank to pitch the idea for the Swuit -– a suit made out of sweat suit material.
Nick and Schmidt quickly realize that the Swuit isn’t a good idea. Now they only have a few days until their meeting with Laurie to come up with a new idea. So Schmidt and Jess try to help Nick get in the right environment for thinking. But the pressure seems to be getting to him. Jess quickly realizes that all they care about is who’s boss and fighting.
Cece tells Coach and Winston that she needs to raise more money for her college tuition by Friday or else she has to drop out. They offer to help out, but she doesn’t want to take charity. So they come up with a plan to help her anyways.
In a meeting with Cece, Winston and Coach say they want to invest in her. They want her to pay them back within three years with 10 percent interest. Cece reluctantly agrees since she has no other option at that point.
The investment plan takes a turn for the worse when Coach and Winston want to check up on Cece. They find her in art history class and aren’t impressed. Both think she should change majors for something offering a better career.
Jess decides to help Nick and Schmidt by speaking with them separately. She tells both of them that they’re clearly the boss, but they should back up the other since they’re having man troubles. To help they need to let the other feel like the boss.
Working together, Schmidt and Nick come up with an attachment for cameras that holds pet treats. But after they’re both complimenting each other, they find out that they think the other has man problems. Jess has to admit what she did and they go back to yelling. It ends with Schmdt and Nick saying they are never working together after their pitch to Laurie.
But at the meeting, Nick realizes that he’s forgotten the prototype. Luckily Jess sees they left it behind and goes to bring it to them. On the way she spills coffee all over herself and only has the Swuit to wear.
Interrupting the meeting, Jess runs in to give them the prototype. But Laurie wants to know what Jess is wearing, so she pitches it. Laurie hated it but paid them $10,000 to kill the idea because she has a similar product on QVC. It does inspire Nick and Schmidt to continue to work together.
To make up with Cece, Winston and Coach get her a textbook for her next art class. As everyone is celebrating, Nick comes in with bad news. Kai broke up with him for being too busy and ambitious. But he’s still excited to make the business with Schmidt work.
