The gang made a pact on New Girl season 4, episode 1, “The Last Wedding,” and things got weird. Read our recap to find out what happened.
After going to 11 weddings in a row, Jess tells Schmidt she can’t go anymore. Schmidt tells her they have to go so she can get back in the game. It’s been four months since her break up with Nick and she still hasn’t met another guy.
Everyone meets in Jess’ room (except Winston, who is too sore from the police academy to get off the couch) and talks about the sexual advantages waiting at the wedding. Jess doesn’t think it’s true, while Nick admits to making out with a bridesmaid at a wedding. After Schmidt’s pep talk, they agree to make a pact not to go home alone. And Jess makes some really inappropriate metaphors.
At the wedding, the guys suggest Jess makes a play for the best man. Cece surprises them at the wedding and Schmidt starts to freak out. After a pep talk from Nick, Schmidt refocuses on finding someone to complete his pact with.
When Jess introduces herself to Ted, the best man, she’s interrupted by another woman. Kat is extremely intimidating, even to us, and tells Jess that she’ll be taking Ted home. So Jess enlists the help of her friends. Cece tells her just to get him out on the dance floor to give him a preview of the goods.
The waitress gets friendly with Coach and he doesn’t realize it’s because he already slept with her. Coach runs into girl after girl that he’s slept with and can’t remember. It’s not a good night for Coach.
Jess tries to take Winston’s advice and pull a Biden on Ted. Which basically means following him around like a creeper. It also makes Kat turn into a creeper and they even follow Ted to the bathroom. Kat turns crazy and locks Jess in the bathroom.
Schmidt and Nick try to pick up a pair of the bridesmaids, but they’re only interested in having a four way. Which Nick is completely uncomfortable with, but Schmidt is on board. He tells Nick he doesn’t want to go home alone and needs Nick’s help.
When Nick vents to Cece about single life being hard, she admits that she is also single again. Nick freaks out and Cece is touched. But he doesn’t actually care about her break up. Just that it means he now HAS to do a favor for Schmidt’s sanity.
Instead of working out the four way, Nick accidentally tells Schmidt that Cece is single. Schmidt just replies by saying that the news is interesting. Trying to escape, Nick heads to the bathroom where he finds Jess hiding. Nick gives her the best advice to just be herself.
Jess decides to follow Nick’s advice and tells Ted all about herself. Including that she’s a vice principal, that she still lives with her ex, and she cries when newscasters wish each other happy birthday. Kat tries to combat this with a naked selfie.
Ted can’t make up his mind on who he wants so they’re at the wedding venue all night. Finally they both give up and Kat goes home with the pastor.
So no one was able to complete the pact. But they all get to go home together and celebrate the end of wedding season by throwing out the invites.
