New Girl season 3, episode 8, “Menus,” just finished airing on Fox. Now you can read our recap and discuss the story line with fellow fans.

Here are the highlights from New Girl season 3, episode 8 “Menus”:

• Nick wakes up in the morning to find a Chinese menu so he naturally orders some for breakfast. When Jess starts to complain, he distracts her by saying she’s his girlfriend. Coach is less easily distracted.
• Jess tires to talk her school’s principal into approving a field trip to the ocean. Even though he says it’s horrible that the kids haven’t been to the ocean the school doesn’t have the funds for the trip.
• Nick tells Coach that he’s “old fashioned” and doesn’t need to work out. But Coach doesn’t relent and warns Nick about the boyfriend 15 which seems to work. Even though Winston is injured, he wants to join in on the bonding time as well.
• Schmidt drops off his keys for the loft but no one seems to really care.
• When one of her kids shows off a beach hat, Jess is crushed to tell her they can’t go to the ocean day. She gets home to find a pile of Chinese menus under their door and is outraged. Nick is concerned when she storms off with the crazy eye.
• Although the restaurant says they will look into the menu issue, they drop off more right when Jess gets home. Which angers her even more and she promises to report them to the city. They clearly don’t care.
• Even though Schmidt says he wants space from his former roommates, he can’t seem to stay away. When he calls to see if he left anything behind, he’s jealous to hear that Coach and Nick are going to work out.
• In order to get Nick pumped to work out, Coach uses some friendly club music. At first it works but Nick quickly loses his stamina. When Cece drops by with a food delivery for Nick, Coach does some uncomfortable flirting with her.
• While Nick tries to get out of working out with Coach, Winston seems focused on being included in it. But when Nick gives him the Chinese food to hold Winston has an allergic reaction to the MSG. Causing Jess to steal him for her efforts to get the restaurant in trouble.
• When Jess starts to have a mental breakdown at the restaurant the truth comes out that she’s actually hung up about the cancelled field trip. But when the manager fires the menu distributer she starts to feel bad.
• Nick doesn’t understand why Schmidt moved out of the loft and then tries to plant a camera in their living room. Coach gets depressed that he’s failed at motivating Nick.
• Things get weird when Coach and Jess gorge themselves on Chinese food and Nick realizes it’s up to him to cheer them up. His kind words to little to get them off the couch. But Jess comes up with the idea to use the restaurants delivery van to get the kids on their field trip.
• When a little girl asks if Nick is Jess’ dad, he gets the motivation to work out and asks Coach to help. Winston tries to join and falls out of his wheel chair. Schmidt is happy to be included and Jess gives him his key back.
