The synopsis for New Girl season 3, episode 4 “The Captain” has been released revealing why Schmidt will try and sabotage Jess and Nick’s relationship.
From spoilers we know that Jess will attempt to spice up her relationship with Nick. Worried that she doesn’t know what he likes, she turns to Schmidt for help. Schmidt agrees to help Jess but unbeknownst to Jess, he has an ulterior motive. Instead of trying to help Jess, he actually wants to ruin things for her and Nick. But why?! The newly released synopsis gives us a better idea.

It looks like Schmidt will be blaming his roommates for his ruined relationships with Cece and Elizabeth after they find out the truth.
