On the last episode of New Girl, Jess had twenty minutes to decide if she should take a new job at the museum or stay at her teaching job. In an attempt to try and help her the guys decided to tell the stories of how they ended up in their careers.
Winston’s attempt to prove he knows when to quit a job actually proves he never makes decisions. Which caused him to begin questioning his whole life. Schmidt revealed that his mentor told him money is everything and he ended up in marketing to get women. Coach explained he chose his career because it’s who he is. While Nick tells how studying law made him miserable and he only found happiness at the bar.
Although hilarious, none of the guy’s stories help Jess make up her mind. Luckily Cece arrives in time to remind Jess about her first student – it was Cece! Jess makes up her mind and doesn’t take the teaching job. But she does set a new goal to become principal to hopefully turn her school around.

“Jess does a full-court press to solidify her friendship with Coach. But Nick goes on defense when they bond over his rival basketball team. Meanwhile, Schmidt is assigned to mentor a much older new hire at work and Winston discovers a new career path in the all-new “Basketsball” episode of NEW GIRL airing Tuesday, Jan. 14 (9:00-9:30 PM ET/PT) on FOX.”
