New Girl season 4, episode 16, “Oregon,” was an emotional episode, especially for those who love Nick Miller.

1. Nick cheered Jess up by asking to go on her tour

Ryan was pretty lousy in this entire episode. It started off by not answering any of Jess’ calls. And then it got worse when he did call but only to tell Jess he wasn’t going to come to the wedding. Jess had been so excited to show Ryan the tour she’d made up about her childhood. So in an effort to make things better, Nick volunteered the group to go see her tour.

2. Holding Jess’ purse so she wouldn’t obsess about hearing from Ryan

This was adorable for two reasons, the first being that Nick actually held onto her purse when usually guys hate doing that. The second reason this was adorable was that Nick really wanted Jess to enjoy her time in Oregon. So far, her entire trip had been plagued by checking her phone every minute to see if Ryan had tried to contact her. By taking away her purse, Nick made her day considerably more enjoyable.

3. When Nick talked about Leonardo Dicaprio

Trying to talk her self around the situation with Ryan, Jess told Nick that their relationship was like Leo and Kate’s. Nick was quick to point out the reality of the situation: Leo likes being single.

4. When Nick thought Jess was Jared Leto

Okay, this was just funny. And true.

5. When Nick gave Jess the best dating advice

For someone whose life it such a mess, Nick can dish out some really good advice. This time, Nick knew just what to say to Jess as she struggled with Ryan’s absence. It also made us swoon because it accurately described the relationship between Nick and Jess. Despite their arguments, they’re always there for one another.

6. To save the day, Nick and Coach went to find the wedding rings

Jess made a major best woman no-no by forgetting the wedding rings at her mom’s house. So Nick and Coach volunteered to go retrieve them. Even better, they took a tandem bike to ride there.

7. Nick and Jess sharing a touching moment

It was pretty cute to see Jess and Nick, our one true pairing, watching Bob and Ashley dancing without a care in the world. Once again, Nick had just come through for Jess and gotten the wedding rings. And she was just happy to share this moment watching the happy couple. Jess also had the revelation that she needed to end things with Ryan. We also just love when Nick makes up his own sayings.

8. He took wishing in crush pond seriously

At the end of the day, Jess told the gang that she had broken up with Ryan. And now that she’s single, Jess can show them how to use crush pond to wish for their next love. Surprisingly, Nick took this seriously and told Coach off for doing it wrong. And we’re hoping that Nick was wishing for Jess.
