As Doctor Who fans know, the Whovian universe has always spread into other media forms such as comic books, tie-in novels, IPhone Apps, and video games. Doctor Who: The Eternity Clock is the latest video game just announced this week.

The official description from the BBC states:

Doctor Who: The Eternity Clock will immerse gamers in the universe of Doctor Who, allowing them to take on the role of the Doctor and River Song as they travel across time and space to save the Earth.

The game is set for release in early 2012, initially on Playstation 3 ®; Playstation Vita ® and PC platforms.

The Guardian had some additional information on the product, reporting that Matt Smith and Alex Kingston will provide voice overs for their respective characters.

According to executive producer Simon Harris, putting together a quality product was the first concern. On the Playstation launch blog he stated:

Developing anything for Doctor Who has to be done right. The show has such a following that we need to be certain that everything the game does fits with the expectations of the fans. So far, we’ve said very, very little about the game. This trailer just has the barest hints about the core of this story. What is The Eternity Clock? How is it related to the Doctor? How is River involved in this?

What do you think of the trailer? Is it inviting enough? Will you purchase the game?
