It’s been far too long since we’ve seen new footage from Community‘s upcoming fourth season. But to celebrate the holidays (and probably to compensate for the fact that Community‘s Christmas episode won’t air until February or March) NBC has found it within its two-sizes-too-small heart to release a brief clip.

Our old pal Joel McHale introduces the roughly 30-second clip, which begins at the 22-second mark, if you’re antsy.

Check it out below:

It looks like Christmastime at the Dean’s house and everyone was invited (even Chang!). Well, everyone but Pierce it seems. Read into that what you will but Chevy Chase supposedly didn’t have a falling out with the show until later on in the season.

Abed seems to be looking a little roughed up but the Dean’s gift of a kitten named Fiona will undoubtedly help. Chang gets August the kitten and of course Jeff gets Jeffrey, with Dean Pelton hanging on to yet another Jeffrey.

There are no surefire ways to soothe the wounds of NBC moving Community to Friday before taking it off the schedule altogether and ultimately delaying it for four months, but a clip with lots and lots of kittens is certainly a start.

Sadly, we also now have context for this picture, which was probably more powerful left context-less.
