A new sneak peek has been released from Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. season 1, episode 16, along with news about yet another exciting guest star!

Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. will be back at long last on April 1, and a new sneak peek has been released of the upcoming episode. The episode, titled “End of the Beginning,” will focus on the team’s hunt for the mysterious Clairvoyant – while fending off man-turned-machine Deathlok.

The new sneak peek from Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. season 1, episode 16 was released on the show’s official Facebook page. The clip follows Agent Ward and Agent Triplett – John Garrett’s new partner – as the two specialists follow the trail of the Clairvoyant.

The sneak peek offers a new look at Trip (BJ Britt), focusing on the character’s insecurities and hunger for vengeance. Though Agent Ward is keeping his distance, we have to applaud Trip for being in touch with his emotions. (Even if they seem to lead to violence. But you know, baby steps.)

In other Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. news, Marvel.com has announced the casting of Patrick Brennan as comic book character Marcus Daniels – otherwise known as Blackout.

Brennan, who appeared in the second part of the final Twilight movie, will appear in Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. season 1, episode 18 (titled “Providence”) as well as the 19th episode. According to Marvel, the character will wield slightly different powers than he does in the comics – Blackout will be able to suck energy out of anything around him.

Dark much?

According to Brennan, there will be one source of light in his character’s life: a very particular cellist.

“The music was the only light that came into his soul,” Brennan says. “It gave him hope and it gave him some sense of what light was.”

Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. season 1, episode 16, “End of the Beginning,” will air on Tuesday, April 1 at 8:00 p.m. on ABC.
