For anyone curious about what comes next for season 6 of The Vampire Diaries, we now have two new faces to welcome to the cast… and a lot of time to ponder what they might be up to.

We are anxious to see what the writers behind The Vampire Diaries have in store for us next season, and we are sure to get at least a few details next week at Comic Con. In the meantime though, we have now heard of two new additions to the cast which has us wondering what exactly these new characters will be up to in season 6.

First up is Gabrielle Walsh. She is a relatively unknown actress whose most notable role was Marisol Vargas in Paranormal Activity: The Marked Ones, which was released this past January.

According to Deadline, Walsh will play Sarah, a character who “comes to Mystic Falls with spunk, street smarts and a shady agenda.” Depending on how the role is received, it could possibly be recurring, but our first glance at Sarah will be in the season premiere this fall.

The second new face to the cast is Colin Ferguson, who has most notably been seen on Eureka and Haven. He will be playing Tripp, who is described in Zap2it‘s article as “the head of a community militia who will do anything to protect his town,” and who will be giving Sheriff Forbes a run for her money this season in Mystic Falls.

Will one or both of these characters be a possible villain this season? Or do they both seem to have that misunderstood good guy quality to them? Only time (and hopefully SDCC) will tell. We are glad to see at least one new adult character, as adults haven’t had a whole lot of luck staying alive in Mystic Falls.

Make sure to check back next week after we have a chance to catch all the news and learn more about season 6 from the cast and crew at San Diego Comic Con!
