A new 300: Rise of an Empire trailer has been released today, featuring Game of Thrones’ actress Lena Headey as Queen of Sparta.

Lena Headey plays Queen Gorgo in 300: Rise of an Empire, which is a sequel/spinoff to Man of Steel director Zack Snyder’s 2007 film 300. As the film is based upon a previous graphic novel, it should be just as violent as the original film.

Fans may be curious where this takes place, since King Leonidas is dead. This story actually takes place in parallel with the story told in 300 back in 2007. Check out the new international trailer for 300: Rise of an Empire below:

300: Rise of an Empire focuses on Persian king-turned-god Xerxes, who leads an army against Greek forces. Though having quite little training, the Greek army are reportedly led by a great general named Themistocles. The film was written by Zack Snyder and Kurt Johnstad, and was directed by Noam Murro.

A recent 300: Rise of an Empire poster was released during Comic-Con, which also featured actress Lena Headey. The poster was given out to fans during the film’s panel.

300: Rise of an Empire’s release date is March 7, 2014. Noam Murro is directing, and is known for his 2008 film Smart People with Dennis Quaid and Sarah Jessica Parker. Rodrigo Santoro is reprising his role from the original 300 as the Persian king Xerxes, as well as Lena Headey, while Sullivan Stapleton (December Boys) plays Athenian general Themistocles.
