Netflix’s The Witcher dropped a gorgeous new trailer and let us know that we’ll be able to watch Henry Cavill as Geralt on our TV screens starting December 20.

After making a splash at this year’s SDCC, things have been rather quiet on The Witcher front.

However, the hype machine got rolling once more today at Lucca Comics and Games Festival in Lucca, Tuscany, where The Witcher dropped a brand new, full-length trailer and finally let us know that we’d be able to watch Henry Cavill in all his Geralt glory on Netflix starting December 20th.

The trailer gives us a better look at his character and a brief hint at his back story, as well as a few more scenes with Anya Chalotra’s Yennefer and Freya Allan’s Ciri. It also gives us plenty of monsters, mystical beings and magic, all of which look like they’ve been rendered using a lot of imagination, creativity and — best of all — money.

Check out the new trailer below!

Though many stateside are familiar with The Witcher primarily due to the massively popular video games by Polish developer CD Projekt Red, the series itself will take from and be based on The Witcher series of novels by Polish author Andrzej Sapkowski.

Henry Cavill stars as Geralt, who is part of the Witcher class of beings. The Witchers are genetically enhanced individuals who are trained in the art of monster hunting and travel the world, hunting monsters for coin. Or, in the words of Henry Cavill himself at the SDCC Witcher panel — they’re a group of badasses who kill monsters.

However, the series won’t be just Henry Cavill looking badass and fighting off monsters. The storyline for the first season will likewise include Freya Allen’s Ciri, a young princess who flees her war-ravaged home hoping to get Geralt’s aid. When Geralt finds his life of bounty hunting caught up in a war between the nations of Cintra and the invading Nilfgaardian Empire, he’ll have to figure out a way to solve a problem that doesn’t just involve his sword and his magic.

The Witcher will premiere on Netflix on December 20.
