Netflix’s upcoming Magic: The Gathering animated series has zeroed in on its Gideon Jura.

In an announcement video posted to the streamer’s Geeked Twitter account, Netflix announced that actor Brandon Routh (The CW’s Legends of Tomorrow, Superman Returns) has officially signed on to voice the character of Gideon Jura in the upcoming animated series adaptation of Magic: the Gathering

“For those of you that don’t know, Gideon is known for being the strong guy who always stands up for what’s right, just, and isn’t afraid to fight,” says Routh in the announcement video. From there, the actor goes on to explain that he’s a long time fan of the game and has been playing since he was a teenager. “I love this world, and I’m very excited to be a part of this animated series.”

In addition to revealing that Brandon Routh has officially signed on to join the voice act for Netflix’s Magic: The Gathering animated series, the streamer also unveiled some all new concept art for the character of Gideon Jura, as well as some environmental art for Ravnica and Golgari, which you can check out below.

Behind the scenes, Transformers: Prime vet Jeff Kline is set to spearhead the forthcoming animated adaptation, which is based off of the hit Wizards of the Coast card game of the same name.

Others involved include story editor Steve Melching, supervising director Audu Paden, and art director Izzy Medrano. Writers on board include Nicole Dubuc, Russell Sommer, Dan Frey, and Taneka Stotts.

Netflix’s Magic: the Gathering animated series is set to premiere via the streamer sometime in 2022.
