Santa will deliver kids lots of physical toys later this month, and a digital one will hit their Netflix devices Christmas Eve: The streaming service’s first original series for kids Turbo FAST.

The first five episodes of DreamWorks Animation’s Turbo FAST, described as a “high-octane ensemble comedy that amps everything up to the extreme,” will arrive on Tuesday, December 24 at 12:01 a.m. pacific time.

The series is based on the animated kids film Turbo which hit theaters in July 2013. “We’ve long said that Netflix is revolutionizing the television industry and now we are thrilled to officially be a part of it,” said Jeffrey Katzenberg, CEO of DreamWorks Animation. “They have been fantastic partners whose vision has given our characters an amazing platform to be enjoyed by families around the world.”

Netflix says that new episodes of Turbo FAST will be released “all year.” Interestingly, this is the first time that the streaming service is debuting an original series without releasing all episodes at once. The strategy has been used by Amazon with their original series. In an e-mail to Variety, Netflix says that the reason the show has a different release schedule is because the film’s animated production style.

A trailer for Turbo FAST shows a different animation style than that seen in the theatrical release of Turbo. “The all new television show digs deeper into the crazy personalities of the snail crew and features 2D design to create a stylized look reflective of the Stunt Team’s fast-paced, souped-up world,” says Netflix in a press release.

With more and more kids using their parents’ iPads, Netflix’s first original series for kids should be a hit.

Netflix is also working on new seasons of House of Cards and Orange is the New Black, two successful and exclusive dramas that premiered earlier this year.
