Netflix’s Altered Carbon has just released a full trailer for season 2, giving us our first good look at Anthony Mackie as the brand new Takeshi Kovacs sleeve.

Anthony Mackie may be suiting up soon as the new Captain America in the Disney+ series The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, but first he’ll suit up as the new Takeshi Kovacs in Netflix’s trippy, futuristic sci-fi show Altered Carbon.

After a two year hiatus, Altered Carbon will return with a new lead in Anthony Mackie, replacing the role played by Joel Kinnaman in the first season.

Based on the 2002 Richard K. Morgan novel of the same name, the series takes place in a future in which death has essentially been defeated. Technology has allowed the human consciousness to be uploaded to a chip, making it possible for individuals to transfer their consciousness to new bodies — called sleeves — and live on for as long as their money can sustain them.

The series follows Takeshi Kovacs, the only surviving soldier of a group of elite interstellar warriors, as he’s transferred into different sleeves and tasked with solving the murders of the wealthy elite, all while pursuing his own twisted mysteries.

After decades of planet-hopping and searching the galaxy, Kovacs is recruited back to his home planet of Harlan’s World with the promise of finding Quell. Haunted by his past and responsible for investigating a series of brutal murders, Kovacs is stunned to discover his new mission to solve the crime and his pursuit to find Quell are one and the same. With the help of his loyal A.I. Poe (Chris Conner), Kovacs must now partner with new allies to outwit his enemies and find the truth: Who is Quellcrist Falconer?

The second season of Altered Carbon picks up 30 years after the events of season one, with Kovacs now being played by Anthony Mackie. Renee Elise Goldsberry will return as Quellcrist Falconer, along with Chris Conner as Edgar Poe and Will Yun Lee as the original Takeshi Kovacs.

Joining Mackie for season 2 will be Luke Cage ’s Simone Missick as Trepp, Power ’s Lela Loren as Danica Harlan, Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan ’s Dina Shihabi as Dig 301, Homeland ’s Torben Liebrecht as Colonel Ivan Carrera, and The Terror ’s James Saito as Tanaseda Hideki.

Altered Carbon season 2 will be released on Netflix on February 27.
